The Islamic State made a bold move with its latest execution video. This time around they used a young boy to do the killing, whom some believe may not have even been a teenager yet. The video shows the confession of the man who is to be executed. In the video Muhammad Said Ismail Musallam, a 19 year old Islamic man from Israel, states how he had been recruited back home to work for Mossad, and that he was divulging information to them about ISIS’s whereabouts and supplies.

After speaking his confession, the young executioner killed Muhammad. He had been kept prisoner by ISIS since February, when he was suspected of acting strangely and accused of being a spy. Many, including Muhammad’s family, believe that his confession was coerced from him. Muhammad’s father said that he had joined ISIS on his own free will, and that he knew nothing about any work potentially being done foe Mossad.
After the execution, the video goes on to name a list of other suspected Mossad agents and spys, and then listed their home addresses with aerial photography and maps showing how to get to those locations. This was intended to put a stop to those spies who act against the Islamic State by showing that they can make their families unsafe as well. There has been no word yet on whether any of the other names listed in the video are of legitimate spies, but it is suspected that there is some amount of truth to their message.
By using a young executioner in the latest video, ISIS may be looking to appeal to younger children who can be recruited into fighting roles. This would not be the first time that the group has been known to purposefully appeal to a younger than average demographic.
