Vatican City – As Pope Francis continues to subtly alter the way that modern Christians view their Pope, he declared that his reign would probably only be for a total of 4-5 years. With that being said, more than 2 years have already passed, leaving just 2-3 more years left for his reign as Pope. Traditionally the office of Pope is a position that is held for life, but Pope Benedict before him set a precedence by stepping down from the office. Perhaps Pope Francis could help carry on that tradition by stepping down later on as well.
Pope Francis Says He Will Probably Only Be Pope For 2-3 More Years
Pope Francis was not making predictions about his own death, he was referring to a sort of retirement from having been such a high profile public figure. He is the Pope who has been known to sneak out of the Vatican at night to go enjoy being himself and helping others without the robes and security guards. It seems that this Pope is really as modest as he was the day he came into office, and still longs for going back to being a more normal human being.
For Pope Francis, his loosely planned exit from the Vatican is a much looked forward to date. This would be his retirement from the job, as well as a return to being a more normal person. It seems that all of his years working hard for the church have paid off, but that he recognizes the weight of the responsibility and the lack of privacy that comes with it.
As the Pope, he has made many efforts to modernize the interpretations of the Holy Bible, and speaks often to others about tolerance and understanding. His efforts this year are focused on the concept of Mercy, and he hopes that people will learn to practice it more in their lives to help make the world a more peaceful place.
