Netflix and Marvel are both enjoying the resounding success that is Daredevil. The show debuted on Friday, with all 13 episodes being released to stream instantly, and the response has been nothing shy of spectacular. However, there is one group of people that weren’t so happy.
The show features Matt Murdock, a blind attorney who fights crime in the courtroom by day and in the streets of Hell’s Kitchen in New York by night. Though Daredevil happens to be a superhero blind people can connect with, they haven’t actually been able to enjoy the series.
The show has a closed caption option, but that does little good for people who can’t see. So, blind fans started a petition to get an audio description feature added for the series, and it worked.
Marvel announced that they would be adding the feature for the show so that their entire audience can enjoy it. They also noted that the feature will soon be available for more shows streaming no Netflix, as it currently isn’t for the most part.
Daredevil currently has an astounding 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and fans, which is borderline unheard of except for in the rarest cases. A vast improvement from the 2003 movie version of The Man Without Fear that starred Ben Affleck.
There is no word as to when the audio description feature will be available, but it is on the way.
Daredevil is available now on Netflix instant watch.
