A 52 year old man named Steven St. Bernard, a MTA bus driver, walked over just in time to catch 7 year old Keyla when she fell.
Mr. St Bernard suffered a torn tendon in his bicep,and later told reporters “I just prayed that I’d catch her. I was right underneath her.”
St. Bernard told the NYPost the girl was “dancing and smiling” on the small unit, seemingly oblivious to the danger she was in.
The little girl’s mother blames the designer of the air conditioning unit, saying that they sold her a defective air conditioning unit. “They sold me a defective air conditioner,” the mother said. She removed the device after the incident. Authorities said that no charges will be pressed against Mrs McCree.
