The world’s largest wave may have been ridden back in 2011 but its worthy of being brought out of the archive to honor the man who did it, and all surfers getting out on the water this summer.

When Garrett McNamara rode what is believed to be the World’s Tallest wave ever ridden it may not have gotten the acknowledgement he deserved.

The wave he caught was off the coast of Nazare, a small fishing town 70 miles north of Lisbon, Portugal.

Teahupoo is located in Tahiti, and considered one of the World’s largest waves. Laird Hamilton Challenged the Wave in the video below:
