The Lakers have gone out and got Kobe Bryant the weapons to win another ring. The Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a blockbuster trade involving Dwight Howard.
The deal involves four teams, twelve players, five draft picks and after much off-season chatter with different teams to get a done. Dwight Howard finally got the deal he wanted on Friday after the NBA reviewed and approved the deal.
The deal involved other big names like Andrew Bynum (Philadelphia 76ers), Andre Iguadula (Denver Nuggets).
According to ESPN: “Orlando got guard Arron Afflalo and forward Al Harrington from Denver, forward Moe Harkless and center Nikola Vucevic from Philadelphia, and forward Josh McRoberts and guard Christian Eyenga from the Lakers. The Lakers got Howard, guard Chris Duhon and forward Earl Clark from Orlando. The Magic also traded guard Jason Richardson to Philadelphia.”
This is not the first time the Lakers acquired the Magic’s best player. Back in 1996 the Lakers acquired Shaquille O’Neal in Free Agency from the Magic. Looks like guys who start out down in South Florida enjoy swapping Disney World for Southern California’s Disneyland.
The Lakers went from a fading Western Conference team to a Western Conference favorite. The Lakers are sure to boast one of the best starting four in the NBA. Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, and Kobe Bryant the fifth man won’t matter much when you have those guys.
