Theresa Faiss dies at 97 after she and her husband became America’s longest married couple. Wilbur and Theresa Faiss from Las Vegas celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary back in January making them the longest married couple in the United States.
Theresa Watts Faiss was Born September 10, 1915, near Centralia in Clinton County, Illinois. She met Wilbur, her future husband at a roller rink outside of St. Louis, Missouri.
According to Huffington Post Wilbur is a former state Senator of Nevada having served from 1976 and 1984. Wilbur is currently the oldest living former Nevada state legislator.
Wilbur said that had he known that becoming the worlds oldest couple would be so much fun he would have asked Theresa to marry him even earlier.
The Inquisitr noted that Wilbur mentioned his keys to a successful marriage when asked the “secret” to his and Theresa’s lengthy marriage, Wilbur Faiss simply responded:
“Compromise.”
He then added:
“Every day I ask her how she feels and, ‘Is there anything I can do for you?’ And say, ‘Honey, I still love you.’?”
