Andrew Messina, and the May 1st Shooting by SWAT Sniper That Left Him Dead. What was supposed to be a suicide intervention turned out to be a horrific tragedy that left the parents of 16-year-old Andrew Messina devastated and wanting answers.

The child’s parents, Lisa and Nick, recount the day on May 1st when their son had felt depressed and sensitive over a bad grade he had received in school. When he came home distraught, grabbing a handgun and wanting to kill himself, his mother frantically called the police for help. Within minutes “a slew of officers arrived along with an armoured tank and a deadly police sniper”.

Andrew Messina set up a video recording and began speaking with his father on the phone, who tried to talk him down. According to the Daily News report, Police at the scene cut off that phone call and placed negotiators to the side of the front door within earshot of Andrew. Tragically for his parents, Andrew can be heard expressing the added tension of the event, and asked to speak to his father several times.

The SWAT Sniper then walked into the house with a rifle, and since the boy knocked his handgun against a door window, was shot and killed. The tragedy took place in an affluent Georgia suburb.
