The computer hacking group Anonymous hacks the Westboro Baptist Church and leaks the personal information of its members after Westboro said it would protest the Sandy Hook shooting funerals.

According to the Inquisitr, Anonymous hacks the Westboro Baptist Church and leaks the personal information of its members after Westboro said it would protest the Sandy Hook shooting funerals just days after the tragic incident occurred. After members of the cult announced on Twitter that they would protest the funerals of the 20 children that lost their lives at the Sandy Hook shooting, Anonymous responded by re-posting the personal and professional information for members of the church on the Internet.

Anonymous hacks the Westboro Baptist Church and leaks the personal information of its members, allowing anyone to directly contact the members and tell them what they think about their horrible protests. The Westboro Baptist Church, which is more like a cult than an actual institution of God, is made up of mostly members of the Phelps family. The Westboro Baptist Church believes that the Sandy Hook shooting was a “sign from God.” Anonymous hacks the Westboro Baptist Church in order to discourage members from protesting and picketing at the Sandy Hook shooting funerals.

This is not the first time that Anonymous hacks the Westboro Baptist Church, as a few months ago, while a Westboro spokeswoman was boasting about how the church foiled Anonymous on a radio talk show, an Anonymous spokesman called in and hacked the church’s website in real time on the air.

As Anonymous hacks the Westboro Baptist Church becomes major news, Anonymous has reached out to publications like the Inquisitr that stated why they hacked the church’s website a second time:

“Just hacked Westboro’s site. Freedom of speech is one thing. But freedom to hate is another. A domain such as “godhatesfags.com should not exist despite rumblings of members picketing Sandy Hook. Those families have enough anguish to deal with.”

Many have shown their support as Anonymous hacks the Westboro Baptist Church, and while the few supporters of Westboro might disagree, the majority feel that making a political or religious issue out of the Sandy Hook shooting tragedy just days after it occurred is insensitive and wrong.
