Bail is Set at $150,000 for George Zimmerman – Zimmerman in Court
A judge ruled Friday that bail is set at $150,000 for George Zimmerman. During the hearing, George Zimmerman took the time to apologize to the family of Trayvon Martin. Judge Kenneth Lester set numerous conditions Friday upon Zimmerman’s release. According to Fox News, the judge said Zimmerman’s release would not occur Friday, but he did not say when exactly Zimmerman could go free. Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, requested that his client be allowed to live in another state due to the numerous death threats made against him, and wear a GPS monitor to track his whereabouts.
Bail is Set at $150,000 for George Zimmerman - Apologizes to Trayvon’s Family
The bail is set at $150,000 for George Zimmerman as he is formally charged with second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin during a February confrontation in a Sanford, Florida. The bail for Zimmerman was announced after he took the stand. During his statement, he told the parents of Martin,
“I am sorry for the loss of your son.”
Although Zimmerman does not deny his involvement in the incident and expressed remorse for the outcome, he maintained that his actions were done in self-defense. In his testimony, Zimmerman states that
“I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little younger than I am. I did not know if he was armed or not.”
Bail is Set at $150,000 for George Zimmerman – Zimmerman’s Violent History
While Zimmerman’s family testified by phone in his defense, stating that Zimmerman has a mild temperament, prosecutors questioned Zimmerman’s wife, Shellie, about two incidents they claim demonstrate that Zimmerman has consistent violent tendencies. One case in particular forced Zimmerman to take anger management courses after an undercover police officer said Zimmerman attacked him.
Throughout the entirety of the incident, Zimmerman has maintained that his actions were done in self defense after being assaulted by Trayvon Martin. While many are skeptical of this defense, a recent photo has surfaced showing Zimmerman with bloody wounds in the back of his head, suggesting that in fact, an altercation took place. However, the question still remains whether Zimmerman’s shooting of Trayvon Martin was justified.
While many who support the Martin family criticize how bail is set at $150,000 for George Zimmerman, it is up to the court to decide whether Zimmerman purposefully killed Trayvon, or if he indeed used his gun in self-defense.
