Bizarre News: Canadian Strip Club Offers College Tuition To Exotic Dancers – photo by NOPSA
While stripping for college is somewhat of a cliche, a Canadian strip club offers college tuition to exotic dancers.
According to the Huffington Post, the owners of Leopard’s Lounge in Windsor, Ont., say changes in immigration laws have stripped the club of many of its dancers, so in order for them to gain new employees, they are willing to pay up to $1,700 in tuition for classes in the surrounding areas or at the University of Windsor.
One of the owners, Robert Katzman, told the press that, “The girls can take any class they want to help better themselves. We have girls studying business, finance, to become nursing assistants and one taking chiropractory.” However, in order to keep the tuition, the girls must maintain a B- average. General manager Barry Maroon said school has just began, making the club eager to hire strippers. “We’ve already had two girls call from Toronto who were very much interested.”
While initially, Maroon and Katzman were able to rely on foreign women for their club, Canada recently passed Bill C-38, which disallows temporary working visas for foreign women coming to Canada to work as exotic dancers.
While perhaps not everyone is enthused with the idea of targeting college students, Maroon argues that hundreds of women use stripping to pay for their education regardless using one of his own former employees turned florist as an example.
