Chinese authorities report that a series of earthquakes in southwestern China killed at least 80 people and injured 731. The death toll is rising as rescue units continue to search for those who are affected by the destruction caused.
The two powerful quakes recorded with the first quake being a magnitude-5.6 quake that hit at 11:30 a.m. Friday and was then followed by an equally strong quake shortly after noon.
All four quakes struck at a depth of about 10 kilometers (six miles), the USGS said.
