Col. Lawrence Wilkerson went on MSNBC saying that he feels as though his party is full of racists. Col. Lawrence Wilkerson who is a Republican served as Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff at the State Department during his time as Secretary of State.
Col. Lawrence Wilkerson went on a tear in a recent interview defending Colin Powell and his critics who say that Colin Powell is endorsing President Obama because of race.
He said this about the Republican Party: “My party, unfortunately, is the bastion of those people — not all of them, but most of them — who are still basing their positions on race. Let me just be candid: My party is full of racists, and the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as commander-in-chief and president, and everything to do with the color of his skin, and that’s despicable.”
Col. Wilkerson’s comments come following a statements made by Former Colin Powell Aide, John Sununu.
