Television viewers–I have bad news for you. One of the greatest ensemble casts of the day is losing a key member. Cote de Pablo is leaving NCIS!
After an eight-season run on the most popular show in television, Cote de Pablo is no longer going to be playing Ziva David, an Israeli Mossad officer-turned-NCIS agent. From the sound of things it appears as if the decision to leave was hers. Her contract expired after last season and she decided not to renew it.
CBS thanked her for her time on the show in a statement:
“We respect Cote’s decision, thank her for being an important part of the NCIS team, and for eight terrific years playing Ziva David. Cote and CBS share a great respect for the NCIS audience, and we look forward to working with her and the producers on appropriate closure in this chapter of Ziva’s story.”
Pablo,of course, released a statement of her own expressing her admiration for the people on the show:
“I’ve had eight great years with NCIS and Ziva David. I have huge respect and affection for Mark, Gary, Michael, David, Rocky, Pauley, Brian, Sean, all of the team and CBS. I look forward to finishing Ziva’s story.”
Pablo will return for the season premiere, in which her character’s story line is going to be wrapped up. At the end of season 10, the character resigned from NCIS along with Tony (Michael Weatherly) and McGee (Sean Murray) in an effort to take the heat off Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Gibbs was being pressured by a Department of Defense investigator to admit that his team often broke the law.
The show ended with the timeline advancing four months and showed Gibbs aiming a sniper rifle at his FBI friend Tobias Fornell. So not only does it appear that Gibbs might kill his friend, but we are losing Ziva too!
Say it isn’t so!
