In a horrifying and tragic family story, a father kills his two sons in revenge against his wife who left him after she found out he was sleeping with prostitutes.
According to the Daily Mail, Andre Leteve is accused of gunning down his two young sons Alec, 5, and Asher, 1, in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 31, 2010. Leteve, who was 39-years-old at the time of the horrific murders, is set to face prosecution at the beginning of this week for the murder of his sons.
According to the prosecution, Leteve shot his sons as an act of vengeance against his estranged wife Laurie, with whom he was locked in a bitter divorce battle after she discovered that he cheated on her with prostitutes. A court document states, “The state claims one of the motives for killing the sons was revenge because Laurie, [his] wife and the children’s mother, left him after finding out that [he] had sex with multiple prostitutes. Laurie was dating someone else at the time of the shootings. The other motive stems from the defendant’s poor finances at the time of the shooting.”
After brutally killing his two sons and once cops arrived on the scene as Levete made the 911 call himself stating, “I just shot and killed my sons and shot myself,” Levete tried to kill himself by shooting the gun underneath his chin. However, he survived the suicide attempt as the shot missed and went through his nose instead.
According to Levete, he shot and killed his sons as his ex-wife was planning on moving to Florida with them. Meanwhile, relatives of Levete say that the divorce did not appear to be a malicious one and that there was no indication of Levete’s violent behavior. Levete’s defense lawyer, Greg Parzych, stated, “We don’t feel comfortable talking about our theories of the case on the brink of jury selection, other than to say that for the past two years, we have been working diligently and thoroughly to ensure that Mr Leteve gets the best possible trial he can.”
Opening statements are slated to begin on October 9, and if convicted, Leteve could face the death penalty.
