Four Italian Scuba divers were discovered dead at the bottom of the “Blood Grotto”. The Blood Grotto is a red walled cave in Southern Italy at the port of Palinuro.

According to the Telegraph the incident occurred Saturday afternoon, when the divers never resurfaced. It is believed that the divers got lost, and could not find their way out before their oxygen tanks ran out.

At this time it is only speculation but investigators believe that the divers kicked up sand at the bottom of the cave, and couldn’t find their way out.

Roberto Navarra, the diving school owner who provided the group’s equipment, confirmed Sunday, that four of the group had swum into the wrong tunnel.

“It’s an easy cave but there is a dangerous tunnel that people never use. Four people swam into that channel,” Mr Navarra told reporters.

There were 4 other survivors, who detailed the events of what happened, as chaos underwater as panic set in when the group released they may be lost. One of the survivors said he grabbed as many people as he could and just began swimming towards day light.
