For those who don’t know Sikhism is a religion that was founded during the 15th century in the Punjab region of India. It is the fifth largest organized religion in the world. Sikhs are expected to embody the qualities of a “Sant-Sip?h?”—a saint-soldier.
Update: The shooter has been identified as Wade Michael Page, a frustrated neo-Nazi who had been the leader of a racist white-power band End Apathy.
Update: A SWAT team entered the temple, and begun evacuating the people inside.
Among those shot were the President of the Temple. Police say that a gunman was shot at the Sikh temple, but did not elaborate. Apparently the Sikh temple gunman was killed by the officer he shot; it’s still not clear if he was working alone.
