National Security Agency Whistleblower William Binney says that government surveillance and spying is up over last few years.
According to Democracy Now Binney served in the NSA for over 30 years, including a time as technical director of the NSA’s World Geopolitical and Military Analysis Reporting Group.
Binney says he retired in 2001 after learning that the NSA planned to use the 9-11 attacks as a way to launch a data collection program that would gather information on American Citizens. Upon retiring Binney says his home was searched by the FBI on 26th of July 2007 after he was suspected of leaking information to a the New York Times.
