When the Gulf of Mexico was threatened by the BP Oil Spill of 2010 the Gulf Coast Seafood industry was affected with potentially contaminated sea life.
Gulf of Mexico fishermen, scientists and seafood processors have told Al Jazeera they are finding disturbing numbers of mutated shrimp, crab and fish that they believe are deformed by chemicals released during BP’s oil spill.
Many of the fishing companies that use the Gulf of Mexico for the abundance of seafood has already taken a hit when the spill happened, and it appears the problems may still linger for years to come.
