Today the worlds oldest woman Besse Cooper, of Georgia turns 116 years old. Cooper, was born in Tennessee on August 26th, 1896.

She officially took over as the world’s oldest person on June 21, 2011, when a Brazilian woman who was 48 days older than Besse died.

With Besse having successfully lived to an age that only 8 people in recorded history have been able to hit it may be a good idea to hear just what she says about how she reached the milestone. Her secret to longevity: “I mind my own business,” Cooper said. “And I don’t eat junk food.”

The non official worlds oldest woman:

Although Besse Cooper holds the official Guinness Book of World Record’s record, Cubana Juana Bautista de la Candelaria Rodríguez claimed that she turned 127, which would make her 11 years older than the official record holder Besse Cooper of Georgia.

Either way both are awesome stories, and only if we could all be so fortunate.

Happy Birthday to the Worlds Oldest Woman, Besse Cooper.
