Law Enforcement Officials in Washington have begun an intense manhunt looking for a mysterious shooter who was firing shots at vehicles, and pedestrians from the woods Sunday.

Law Enforcement Officials got a call shortly after 1:30 p.m. PT Sunday from a man who said he’d been shot in the leg near his home in Arlington, a community about 50 miles north of Seattle.

According to CNN when police arrived at the scene they immediately recognized that a gunman was hiding in the woods fire shots at pedestrians, and highway traffic. The gunman then began firing shots at Law Enforcement.

There is no official statement on how many rounds were fired but  Lt. Steve Dittoe of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said “a lot of shooting this afternoon — at us.”

The manhunt continues as the shooter still remains at large.
