Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange by espenmoe
WikiLeaks founder, 41-year-old Julian Assange has made his first public appearance in two months. He addressed a large crowd of supporters from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he has been granted asylum.
The Australian journalist whistle blower said “There must be no more foolish talk about prosecuting any media organisation, be it Wikileaks or the New York Times,” he said. “The U.S. war on whistleblowers must end.”
Assange later said “The United States must pledge before the world that it will not pursue journalists for shining a light on the secret crimes of the powerful.”
Along with being on the run from the United States government for leaking classified information, he also faces extradition to Sweden over sexual assault claims, which he denies.
