A123 added to list of companies that received Billions in Federal Stimulus on verge of bankruptcy. As Americans, are we growing used to hearing that billions of dollars in tax payer stimulus is needed to jump start the economy, only to hear “well we thought it would work?”

How much more debt do we need? How many more American tax dollars need to be spent? What does our nation need to know in order to realize we are no farther ahead today than we were in 2008?

When Battery maker A123 Systems was given a stimulus grant worth nearly a quarter-billion-dollars (249 million dollars to be exact) in late 2009 it  vowed to create thousands of jobs. The company said the money would go to build factories to manufacture high-tech lithium-ion batteries.

Now Federal job-tracking figures show only a few hundred positions were created before the company joined a growing list of federally backed energy businesses that ended in bankruptcy.

For those who are keeping track here are some energy companies that have gone bankrupt after receiving Federal stimulus money.
