Some would assume that life in prison for murder would mean your wishes and demands won’t be met. In a bizarre story out of Massachusetts, Robert Kosilek, who now goes by Michelle Kosilek received hormone treatment therapy while in prison to become more like a women. Kosilek is currently in an all-male prison now living as a female named Michelle.

According to FoxNews a federal judge on Tuesday ordered state prison officials to provide taxpayer-funded sex-reassignment surgery to a transgender inmate serving life in prison for murder. Kosilek was convicted of 1st degree murder for the death of his wife Cheryl Kosilek who was found dead in the back seat of her car in a shopping mall parking lot on May 20th, 1990 according to the Commonwealth vs. Robert Kosilek 423 Mass. 449 documents.

How did he get the approval to have a tax payer funded sex change? He filed a lawsuit against the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, seeking an injunction that would require prison officials to grant Kosilek the surgery.

Because “it is considered unconstitutional to suffer unnecessarily in prison for a severe medical need” the judge said.

Prison officials have voiced concerns over the surgery saying that allowing Kosilek to have the surgery would make him a target in the all male prison.

How do you the tax payer feel about the surgery?
