Mt. Fuji could be on the verge of catastrophic eruption. If there was ever a Volcano that you would above all others not want to erupt it would be Mt Fugi. Mt Fugi is located just outside one of the most densely populated cities in the world. Tokyo.
A Mt. Fugi eruption would be be more catastrophic than the 2011 Tsunami that came rushing ashore in Northern Japan following a violent Earthquake.
According to the Japanese Press Vulcanologist say that the pressure in Mount Fuji’s magma chamber is now higher than it was in 1707, leading volcanologists to speculate that a disaster is imminent.
The latest warning comes from the lead volcanologist on the case Eisuke Fujita at the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention.
The recent Earthquakes and tectonic shifts have caused the Volcano to pressurize to such a level that scientists belief an eruption is over-due, and it’s not a matter of if, but rather when an eruption will occur.
The Wallstreet Journal said that in 2004, the government estimated a Fuji eruption would cost the economy ¥2.5 trillion ($31.25 billion) and would affect more than 400,000 people, including those in the Tokyo area.
