When asked whether Blunk had shielded her from gunfire, Jansen Young replied: “Yes, he did.”
In an interview with NBC News, Jansen Young told the story of heroism displayed by her boyfriend Jon Blunk.
Blunk shielded his girlfriend Jansen Young from the rapid fire coming from the Dark Knight Gunman James Holmes. As the gunfire rang Blunk was hit by a bullet as he used his body as a shield in an attempt to stop bullets that were coming in around Jansen Young.
After the gunfire seized Young says she was so wet it felt like water had been sprayed on her. But it wasn’t. It was blood from Jon, and others who were wounded.
Blunk was 26 when he died, and a former Navy veteran who previously served on the USS Nimitz stationed out of San Diego California. He leaves behind two daughters a four year old, and two year old. The live with their mother in Reno, Nev.
