There are some things you never expect to happen like the Cubs winning the pennant or real Smurfs being discovered, but Richie Sambora fired from Bob Jovi?
Say it isn’t so?!?!
Sadly, it is. After three decades with the iconic band lead guitarist Richie Sambora is no longer part of Bon Jovi.
It is a little unclear if he is out for good or just out for the current tour though. The site RumorFix broke the story, but refer to the firing as being from the band’s current tour over–of all things–money.
Sambora has not been on the tour since the spring, but on it he was due to make a good $2 million a month as well as 20 percent of the take from each show. His replacement, Philip Xenidis, is making just $10,000.
Yeah, I’d like to make $10K a month too, but when you compare it to what Sambora made its a pretty substantial difference.
The post goes on to talk about the ‘divorce’ between Sambora and the band and how he will continue to make money off of royalties and merchandising.
There have been rumors that he and Jon Bon Jovi were at odds and that Sambora’s solo song ‘Come Back as Me’ was a dig at Jon–something he of course denied.
A source close to Sambora has told reporters that Sambora is broken up over the whole mess making it appear to be a more permanent split rather than just from the current tour.
So no, fans, he is not half way there. Nor is he living on a prayer. I imagine if he wanted to he could lay down on a bed of roses (as long as there were no thorns). Fans just might have to keep the faith and hope that whatever bad medicine forced this split wears off and fans can lay their hands on tickets for the reunion tour.
