Applications by white males who are looking to enroll in a Cadet pilot training are no longer being accepted.
The airline says that they are no longer accepting the white males because they want to even out the demographics of the airline to fit the demographics of the nation.
According to iafrica “Only 15 percent of SAA’s pilots are currently black, and this includes Indians and coloureds. The rest are white, and 91 percent of them are men.”
An upset father called the local Newspaper when he heard about the program’s denial of applicants based off of their race, even though his son was fully qualified with two commercial pilot licenses.
The airline says it will still hire white pilot’s but only if when pilot’s of other races could not be found.
