In a surprising announcement, Steven Tyler quits American Idol after just two seasons being on the world wide popular televised singing competition.
According to the Daily Mail, Steven Tyler has confirmed he is leaving American Idol as the Aerosmith singer has ruled out returning for the 12th season in order to concentrate on music again after he ‘strayed too far’ from his band. Tyler has been a judge alongside famous music producer Randy Jackson and singer and actress Jennifer Lopez for the past two seasons.
In a statement he made online, Tyler wrote, “After some long … hard … thoughts … I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress American Idol before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover. On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, ‘Music from Another Dimension’ on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars. “
While Tyler announced his difficult decision, he said he had no regrets as American Idol was “over-the-top fun,” and that he “loved every minute of it.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez has also announced her uncertainties of returning to American Idol. When the famous pop singer appeared on the Today Show, she said, “Maybe it’s time for me to go. It’s been on my mind a lot, as you can imagine, and now it’s like, “Do we continue on this journey? I’ve loved it so much. I enjoy the show so much… It’s a tough decision either way. At the end of the day, whichever way, it’s a heartbreaking decision if I’m going to have to go.”
Randy Jackson’s future with American Idol is also unsettled, however, serious talks for a judge position have been rumored with famous pop singer Mariah Carey
