Student at FAU Snaps and Threatens to Kill Her Professor and Classmates
During an evolution class in preparation for a midterm at Florida Atlantic University, Associate Professor Stephen M. Kajiura received a curious interruption from one of his students. Jonatha Carr interrupted the associate professor with the question,
“How does evolution kill black people?”
Surprised by this seemingly random question, Mr. Kajiura responded with an attempt to explain that evolution does not kill anyone. Jonatha Carr continued to ask several more times, each time, becoming more upset at Mr. Kajiura’s lack of satisfying responses. This, unfortunately, provoked a violent outburst from Jonatha Carr, who proceeded to threaten to kill the associate professor along with several classmates. This sudden, violent outburst surprised and scared many of the students, some of which left the classroom to call the police. Ms. Carr then took it upon herself to get into a few of her classmates faces, shouting wildly, while violently slamming her palm against a student’s forehead. When an FAU technician came in to try and control the situation, Ms. Carr became even more aggressive and got into a physical altercation with him.

According to University Press,
Although the episode lasted less than 10 minutes, the professor, along with the class, were so shaken by the whole ordeal that only half of the class remained for the rest of the lecture, and those that remained could not focus and started texting instead. Kajiura described Carr as,
“a highly emotionally charged individual who was no longer capable of responding rationally. She was threatening to kill both me and the students in the class.”
Although no one yet knows what exactly provoked this irrational behavior from a seemingly typical student, Mr. Kajiura was impressed with his class for their mature and responsible behavior, describing them as,
“Absolutely fantastic. They acted responsibly.”

This irrational behavior could have been caused by academic pressures as midterms are approaching for FAU students, or perhaps it could have been provoked by a more personal matter. Whatever the cause of this unfortunate situation, the fact that a student at FAU snaps and threatens to kill her professor and classmates will definitely raise alarms and provoke an investigation into the incident.
