Good news for road trippers. Texas becomes the first state in America to approve a speed limit of 85 mph. For those who have driven cross country many will say Texas is one of the most boring stretches to transit.
The Texas Transportation Commission has approved a speed limit of 85 mph for a 41-mile toll road several miles east of the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio.
Texas Department of Transportation spokeswoman Veronica Beyer says “we must continue to look for innovative ways to generate revenue and be good stewards of taxpayer dollars.”
The concern is that high speed roads increase the risk of fatalities. Do you think that more states should follow Texas on higher speed limits, or are the speed limits just fine where your at?
