Hostess Twinkies selling for $100 on Ebay while a petition is circulating to bail twinkies out now that Hostess has proclaimed that the production of the beloved Twinkies has officially shut down.

With Hostess closing down the Twinkies factory for good, or at least until further notice, people all of a sudden are craving the small and delicate cake and going to extreme measures to bring it back. Almost immediately after Hostess announced the production stop on Twinkies, a petition was made and is being promoted to get recently re-elected president Barack Obama to bailout Twinkies. According to Politico, the petition seeks to nationalize the Twinkie Industry in order to save the moist Twinkies from ceasing to exist.

Meanwhile, Twinkies pricing has been escalating to an all time high on auctioning sites. According to the Daily Caller, Twinkies selling for $100 on Ebay is trending and can potentially go up the longer Twinkies are out of production. Moreover, it’s not just the Twinkies that are selling at an abnormally high price as Zingers and Ho Hos have also been selling for over $50.

According to Hostess, the shutdown occurred due to the labor strike and rising costs, where unionized workers rejected a major pay and benefit cut. However, AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka told reporters, “What’s happening with Hostess Brands is a microcosm of what’s wrong with America, as Bain-style Wall Street vultures make themselves rich by making America poor. Crony capitalism and consistently poor management drove Hostess into the ground, but its workers are paying the price.”
