In an unbelievable tragedy two 13-year-old boys from Sheboygen, Wisconsin decided to murder and rob one of their grandma’s using hatchets and hammers to commit the heinous crime.
The two boys identified as Antonio Barbeau and Nathan Paape were arrested and charged as adults of first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly killing 78-year-old Barbara Olson, whose body was found in her garage with a pool of blood around her head at her home on Wednesday.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Paape’s mother dropped the two boys off at Olson’s house who was Barbeau’s Great-Grandmother. When the boys arrived Olson warned Barbeau that she was going to call his mother, that is when the 13-year-old struck his great-grandmother in the head with the end of the hatchet, knocking the woman to the ground. Paape then hit her in the head with a hammer and Barbeau hit her in the head with the sharp end of the hammer.
Once they knew Olson was dead the boys tried to drag her body to the car to dispose of it. Once they failed in their attempt they went through the house stealing jewelry and change. Once they got what they wanted they stole her car, and drove down to a pizza parlor where they had a pizza.
The Central Wisconsin Hub said at the time the crime was committed, Barbeau was a runaway from the county Juvenile Detention Center on North Sixth Street, where he was being held on a juvenile matter. He turned himself in on Tuesday for that unrelated juvenile matter before Olson’s body was discovered.
Following an interview with Paape, where he confessed to the crime, police went to Barbeau’s detention facility to talk with the boy where he originally denied committing the murder but later confessed to the crime.
