The much anticipated rematch between Brazilian Anderson Silva (31-4) and American Chael Sonnen (27-11) “UFC 148″ is inching closer. The fight, which will be held July 7th in Las Vegas, is expected to have over 1 million PPV subscribers.
This time the normally cool, calm, soft spoken Anderson Silva has a few choice words for his opponent and UFC fans. Silva has come under much scrutiny from UFC President Dana White for being to soft and not being the fierce Champion that Dana really wants.
UFC 148 Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen Part 2: Silva comments:
Silva left nothing on the table this time when he said through a translator: “What I’m going to do inside the Octagon is something that’s going to change the image of the sport,” ”I’m going to make sure every one of his teeth are broken, his arms are broken, his legs are broken. He’s not going to be able to walk out of the Octagon by himself. I can guarantee that.”
Silva is considered one of the best Mixed Martial Artists in the world, having defended his UFC Title belt with an UFC record of nine times and having won his last 15 fights. One of his fights was a fifth-round submission win over Sonnen when the two met in August 2010. Many thought that Sonnen was ahead in that fight until the submission.
Sonnen has been rather mouthy when it comes to his opinion of the elite Brazilian Mixed Martial Artist. Sonnen has reason to be confident considering he gave Silva his best fight in their last meeting. Those in the world of UFC know that it is one thing to be confident and a whole different concept to actually beat this man, a man who has dominated the 185 pound weight class since 2006.
UFC President, Dana White, whom has been disappointed at times in his champion, must be thrilled with the Champs most recent comments geared towards Silva. White said: ”I’ve promoted every Anderson Silva fight since he’s been in the UFC and I’ve never heard him talk even remotely close to this.”
