In a bizarre and somewhat humorous story, an Ohio woman married her father on accident and only found out six years after her husband/dad passed away.
According to CNews, an Ohio woman married her father on accident as 60-year-old Valarie Spruill learned the truth of her dad/husband, Percy Spruill, six years after his passing in 2004. The story begins with Spruill’s mother, who became pregnant at the young age with the then 15-year-old Percy. When Valarie was born, she was sent to live with her grandparents. When she was 9-years-old, she found out that the man raising her was not her father, but her grandfather, and that a person that was often referred to as a “family friend” was in fact her biological mother. However, there was never any mention of who her real father was.
Fast forward to years later when Valarie met and married Percy Spruill. The incestuous couple settled down with Valarie’s three children from a previous marriage in Doylestown, where Valarie still resides. Percy passed away in April 1998 at the age of 60-years-old.
After his death, her uncle revealed to her that Percy was in fact her biological father and DNA testing confirmed it. In an interview with CNN, Valarie stated, ”That conversation didn’t come up. I think if he did know, there is no way he could have told me.” She is currently seeing a therapist to deal with the emotional toll this experience has had on her life.
