Female Officer killed in Denver

A Female Police officer was killed after being shot in the head Sunday evening trying to break up a fight at Denver’s City Park Jazz festival.

The gunfire broke out as the band finished playing next to a pond at the park. At least 1,000 people were at the City Park Jazz concert.

According to the Denver Post: As many as 30 police cars were reported on the scene near the boat house. Multiple people were questioned, but no one was in custody. Dozens of officers continued to scour the area, including the nearby Denver Zoo.

Emergency Units arrived to perform CPR on the officer, but she was unable to hold on and later passed away from the gunshot wound to her head.

FOX31‘s  Jon Bowman said “police have up to two people in custody. Bowman said virtually every on-duty Denver officer is on the scene, and some who were off-duty. Reports are that the Female officer had been on the force for seven years, and was a mother of two children.
