What we know about Nancy Lanza is still in the early stages of development, as numerous reports have been circulating and giving different details about the mother of Adam Lanza. According to initial reports, Nancy Lanza was a dedicated mother to her family and worked as a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School. However, more details have been given questioning those claims.

What We Know About Nancy Lanza – Mother of Gunman Adam Lanza

While what we know about Nancy Lanza is only just the surface, numerous facts have been circulating regarding the mother of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza. While reports initially stated that Nancy Lanza was a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary, that fact remains unclear as a former Newtown school board official told the Wall Street Journal that “no one has heard of her,” adding that “teachers don’t know her.” However, one parent did identify Nancy Lanza as a substitute teacher at the school even though her name is not on a staff list and an official said they have been unable to establish a connection between her and the school so far.

Although what we know about Nancy Lanza may not be conclusive, what we do know for a fact is that the guns used by Adam Lanza at the school shooting, two semiautomatic pistols and .223-caliber Bushmaster rifle, were registered to Nancy Lanza, whom several witnesses identified as an avid gun collector. Moreover, Nancy Lanza taught her children how to shoot guns as owner of a landscaping business who recently decorated her yard for Christmas stated, “She said she would often go target shooting with her kids.”

Another fact about what we know about Nancy Lanza has to do with her taking Adam Lanza out of Newtown’s public school system because she was unhappy with the school district’s plans for her son. Nancy Lanza home schooled her son according to an aunt of Adam Lanza Marsha Lanza, “She mentioned she wound up home-schooling him because she battled with the school district.”

Nancy Lanza was the first victim of the shooting as Adam Lanza shot his mother in the face then drove her car to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he killed 20 students and six adults before taking his own life. Adam Lanza also shot and killed Victoria Solo, who shielded her class from the gunman.
