A Utah man, Zachary Cole Weston, has been accused of stabbing his 84-year-old grandmother Joyce Dexter 111 times and dissecting her body.

Police were called to the  84-year-old’s home in Salt Lake City on October 3rd after her neighbors heard screams prompting them to call 911. When police arrived at the home Weston was standing over his grandmother’s body holding a knife.

Court Documents state that Zachary Cole Weston had admitted to splitting open his grandmother’s chest cavity and abdomen, then removing her internal organs including her heart.

Zachary Cole Weston was charged with aggravated murder, which is a capital offense. Family members told The Salt Lake Tribune that Zachary Cole Weston suffers from mental illness. Mental illness or not, it is currently unknown what the young man’s motives were for attacking his aged grandmother in the first place. Time will tell what the fate of the young man will be, as he is set to go to trial. One must wonder if his family’s claims of mental illness are strictly a defense for the Zachary, or if they will stand up in court as a defense for him against receiving the death penalty.
